Title fight Sunny Edwards vs Moruti Mthalane

Title fight Flyweight

This week on BT Sport, Sunny ‘Showtime’ Edwards is dropping down a weight class have his first world
title fight against tough South African and current nr.1 Flyweight in the world Moruti Mthalane.

This is by far the toughest test for Edwards as he is facing a champion who hasn’t had a loss since 4-weight world
champion Nonito Donaire in 2008 and has 16 wins with 11 knockouts since then. Edwards fought for most
of his career at Super-Flyweight winning the British, WBO European and the WBO & IBF international title,
where he outclassed every opponent with a wide unanimous decision.

However, he decided to move to Flyweight to secure a shot at the world title because all current
champions in the Super-Flyweight division are tangled up in unification fights. If Edwards beats Mthalane,
he will become the second world champion under Frank Warren’s banner after Tyson Fury, he will have
won a world title shot in the same division as his brother Charlie and would immediately become a
massive draw in the U.K. and in the Boxing world.

Nonetheless, he is undoubtedly the underdog in this fight according to the betting site and would need an
outstanding performance to snatch the IBF world title. Then again, he has proven to astute ability and can
live up to the challenge once he’s 100% ready.
