Ritson vs Ponce: Who will face Josh Taylor to become undisputed champion?

This Saturday, Sky sports and Matchroom Boxing will be presenting a final eliminator between Ritson and Ponce for the IBF light-welterweight title of Josh Taylor, but the more important topics regarding this event, is that this will be Matchroom’s last fight card on the Sky sports platform and will be the first time since December that crowds will be permitted to attend the fight!

Lewis ‘the sandman’ Ritson is one of Matchroom’s promising fighters in the north of England being always capable of selling out tickets in Newcastle and having a prestigious craft in the ring as well. Furthermore, his fight against Robbie Davies Jr. which was billed as ‘bad blood’ turned out being one of the fights of the year in 2019.

Unfortunately, his performance deteriorated immensely against former lightweight champion Miguel Vazquez many considered Vazquez to have won that fight but it was erroneously given to Ritson, which raised a lot of eyebrows about Ritson’s current mindset as well as the viewpoint of Boxing’s corruption.

For Ritson to revamp his profile, he will have to put in a great performance against Ponce who is a young & undefeated Argentinian who will give it his all to become a mandatory challenger!

Alen Babic returns on the last Matchroom Fight card on Sky Sports

Also, on the card will be Alen ‘the savage’ Babic, the terrifying heavyweight from Croatia who always brings entertainment in every fight with his brute & come forward style. Being quite a small heavyweight, he would be willing to go down to cruiserweight and challenge some of the champions like Lawrence Okolie or Mairis Briedis. He also has the possibility to challenge on the newly formed bridgerweight division from the WBC and challenge some of the smaller heavyweights for a title.

Moreover, Solomon Dacres, April Hunter, and Joe Laws will return on the card to further extend their professional record.

This event will be a memorable one as Matchroom will transition all of their events ok DAZN UK, and sky will supplant all their boxing nights with their new 4-year Toprank Deal
