3 talking points from Man United’s win over Burnley

Man United labored to a 3-1 win over Sean Dyche’s Burnley at Old Trafford in the Premier League. The game had no goals in the first half as Wood’s goal for Burnley after 17 seconds was ruled offside.

Man United came close through McTominay and Rashford but Nick Pope denied United on both occasions. Mason Greenwood almost put the home side in front but he failed to connect to a Rashford’s pass.

Man United broke the deadlock through Greenwood just two minutes into the second half. Rashford dribbled past his man on the edge of the box before playing the ball into Fernandes who executed a dummy to get Greenwood in space. The Man United academy product finished nicely to put United in front.

 The celebrations did not last long for United as Burnley got on level terms through a Tarkowski header from a corner kick.

Man United continued to press for a second and got it through Greenwood six minute from stoppage time. Cavani sealed a win in the final moments of the game.

The win puts Man United on 66 points from 32 games. The Red Devils got an important three points to close the gap to Man City to eight points with 6 games left.

Burnley on the other hand continues their struggle for survival in the premier league.

Man United makes it five on a bounce

The Red devils win over Burnley in the premier league made it 5 wins a row for Solkjaer’s men. This is the first time this season that United have got as much win in a row. Man United’s best run of wins in a row this season (4) came between November and December. Ole Gunnars Solkjaer’s men seem to be improving. United have lost just once in their last 26 premier league games. A fifth consecutive win in the premier league will surely give Ole’s team a boost ahead of their game against Leeds.

Cavani and Greenwood on fire

Man United’s strikers Cavani and Greenwood have been firing on all cylinders in recent days. Greenwood scored a brace while Cavani sealed the victory with a late goal. Cavani’s return to fitness and Greenwood’s form has given United a boost in attack following Martial’s injury. The duo has scored 5 of Man Unites’s last 7 goals in the premier league.

Burnley fighting for their lives now

Sean Dyche’s men dropped to 17th place after this loss and Newcastle’s win against West ham on Saturday. The clarets are 6 points above 18th place Fulham in the drop zone. Burnley is not yet safe as they play Wolves and West ham in their next 2 games in the league. The remaining premier league games would be very crucial for Sean Dyches’ side as they fight to stay in league.
