Lukaku to join Chelsea in €115 million transfer

Belgian and former Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku is close to a move to Chelsea and Stamford Bridge. The forward will complete his move from Inter Milan which will add up to €115million.

This is followed by Jack Grealish’s move to Manchester city which cost 100 million.

The Belgian striker was part of Jose Mourinho’s squad at Stamford Bridge for seven years after leaving for Everton in a deal worth quarter that of what Chelsea are now paying.’s

His return ends speculation around Harry Kane’s move from Tottenham.

Since joining Inter from Manchester United, Lukaku scored 64 goals in 95 games, which allowed Inter to win their first Scudetto in eleven seasons.

The blues have had their own share of goal scoring problems with Timo Werner failing to hit the net since joining from Germany. Lukaku will give Thomas Tuchel a problem he will welcome and will ease the burden on Werner.

Inters problems are well documented. The Milan club are in financial turmoil and have had to let €60million sale of Achraf Hakimi to Paris Saint-Germain go ahead. Antonio Conte also left his post as head coach

Inter not happy with Lukaku leaving

Despite some fan protests, Lukaku will become the latest big name to depart the San Siro and, with Spurs monitory Lautaro Martinez’s situation, he may not be the last.

Chelsea have been relatively quiet in the transfer market this summer, and Lukaku would represent their first major piece of business and their most expensive signing ever.

The club have also been linked to Sevilla defender Jules Kounde. Kurt Zouma was meant to be part of the deal, but talks have not progressed

Both Kai Havertz and Kepa Arrizabalaga have previously cost €85million.

Chelsea’s season begins on Wednesday with their UEFA Super Cup clash with Villareal at Belfast’s Windsor Park. Their pre-season build-up has taken place in Carton House.

Chelsea also get their season off and running against Crystal Palace this Saturday
