Christian Purslow explains why Grealish left Villa

Aston Villa have released a video on their Tv channel explaining why they let Jack Grealish go to Manchester City.

Villa Chief Executive Christian Purslow addressed supporters with a live broadcast on VillaTV on Thursday night to confirm the plan.

Grealish’s move to Manchester city seemed to fly under the radar as Lionel Messi left Barcelona on the same day. The transfer was a British record fee for a player. It cost £100 million.

Manchester City confirmed the move for the Villa captain on Thursday night in a deal which makes the 25-year-old the most expensive Premier League footballer.

Grealish has been named as Sergio Aguero’s successor for the number 10 shirt, and has described it as a ‘dream’ move to join Pep Guardiola’s side.

He told the club’s website: “I am incredibly happy to have joined Manchester City.

“City are the best team in the country with a manager considered to be the best in the world. It’s a dream come true to be part of this club.”

Jack Grealish saga handled well says supporters

Villa have been busy during the the transfer window with Buendia, Ings and Bailey all making their way over to the Midlands. Christian Purslow obliged with an informative five-minute video to explain how AVFC approached the situation.

Thank you Christian Purslow, you explained the club’s decision-making processes rationally, and sensibly. The whole management team have conducted themselves with absolute class and represented #avfc so well!”

This kind of attitude is especially crucial in the aftermath of the European Super League debacle. Which, as we all know, threatened to tear the very foundations of English football apart.

If we can get more of this from owners and board members in the future, the integrity of the game has a fighting chance.
